Why is the portal not getting much defending or attention these days...
It's just a fucking rarity if flashes get blammed now. I've seen about 3 flashes get the coffin per day...when before it was an estimated average of 46.

Times have changed. Newgrounds is not the same as it was when it first started and with the impending demise of Flash, the site had to evolve or perish. There is also Youtube's de facto monopoly on videos, so Newgrounds has to fill a niche in order to survive.

Could partly be the number of submissions? Fewer submissions inevitably means fewer blams. It could also be that the general bar of quality is higher these days... 5-10 years ago people would make all kinds of halfassed garbage spam and even some of the stuff with lots of effort would still be kind of bad, those types of things got blammed regularly. Seems like animation in general is better, or at least there's a LOT more really good stuff than there ever was, I just imagine that also means that even the low-end of the scale is better than it used to be

The Portal doesn't even have 46 submissions a day anymore. Also, there's the fact that NG doesn't have that many good, devoted voters and reviewers anymore.
Newgrounds gold age is gone.
Yeah I agree that all your 3 second tests shouldn't have made it through.
There are less submissions, but the newer users don't understand the joy of blamming someone's submissions. They may not care about the quality of the site. The old saying "you got blammed, so try harder" has been forgotten and some people feel bad about voting 0. I never vote 1. If you dislike something enough to want it to blam, why give it anything by voting 1? I miss the blam animation too. There's no fanfare any more when something gets blammed. :\
Keep at it tho. Some things do get blammed. :)
We could solve this perception issue by eliminating the blam feature completely. Moderators remove any content that breaks the rules nowadays and artists generally aren't TRYING to upload blam spam anymore... Maybe the time has come to retire blams.

At least these comments on the lack of portal activity are very much alive! :) So people do care, after all... would be a sad day the day the blam feature is fully removed though... it does keep SOME things out...
I have to agree with u m8, people are too lenient with shizz these days, blamming things shouldn't even be seen in a negative light anyway
Well, thats what happens when you get a sudden influx of dumb kids and lefty sjw special snowflakes from Tumblr who cannot accept or give criticism because "it's hurtful". The amount of trash that gets through nowadays makes me sad as hell. 3 frame poorly drawn animations made by some kid in Flipaclip and dumped onto here. And downvoting or flagging it does not work half the time anymore because they just get their mates to all vote 5 on it so it reaches the necessary criteria to stay on the site.
At least now I know that I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Hell, Tom Fulp agrees with us! As much as I love the fact that users decide what comes and goes, this feature is getting abused nonstop in current times.
Perhaps it really is time to let blamming go. ;(
